Biography

Christian Muscheid studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at the Facultat de Belles Artes in Barcelona, graduating in 2009 as a master student of Professor Jerry Zenjuk.

The artist is a member of the collective Neue Münchner Malerei, which has set itself the goal of establishing new aesthetic forms of expression in the field of painting.

Christian Muscheid was born in Saarbrücken in 1982 and lives and works in Munich. Since 2004 he has studied painting with Prof Jerry Zeniuk (Academy of Fine Arts, Munich). In 2008, he studied at the Facultat de Belles Arts in Barcelona for a semester abroad. He became a master student in 2009 and received his diploma in January 2010.

In addition to the studio scholarship from the City of Munich (2010) and the studio scholarship from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research and Culture (2013), his work was honoured with the Renate Küchler Prize in 2010. As a founding member of the artist group ‘super+’, Christian Muscheid works on a project-related basis; most recently, in 2015, ‘Flight of the Phoenix’ was realised for the PIN. Fest at the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, in 2015 and Nuit Blanche, Paris, in 2016.
